About Hong Kong

About Hong Kong

Often described as ‘Asia’s world city’, Hong Kong serves as one of China’s special administration regions, alongside Macau.

The term was originally coined as a result of Hong Kong’s transformation into a global finance and trade centre, with a flourishing economy, low taxation and the largest collection of skyscrapers in the world.

It also has one of the world’s highest concentrations of billionaire households, according to Forbes magazine.

Hong Kong Attractions

Hong Kong Attractions

Hong Kong has been praised for having the world’s best skyline by CNN, beating the likes of New York, Paris and London. In particular, it was hailed for offering a “picture perfect two-dimensional skyline, day and night”, with iconic buildings such as the Bank of China Tower,International Commerce Centre, and Two International Finance Centre.

Hong Kong actually has more skyscrapers than any other city in the world, most of which are nestled around Victoria Harbour and the surrounding mountains. For the best views, head over to Avenue of the Stars, a monument to the stars of Hong Kong’s golden screen, or visit the Tsim Sha Tsui (TST) Promenade, where the public is treated to an evening sound-and-light show involving 20 buildings on the skyline.

The best views, however, can be found at Victoria Peak, the tallest point on Hong Kong Island. The mountain can be scaled onboard a popular tram service, which has been transporting passengers 1,300 feet above sea level since 1888. At the top, you will find the Peak Tower, featuring a sky terrace with 360degree panoramic views across the city, together with various restaurants, shops and entertainment facilities.

The city also offers traditional attractions such as Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, Wong Tai Sin Temple, Hong Kong Museum of History and Temple Street Night Market, while children’s entertainment comes in the form of Hong Kong Disneyland and Ocean Park Hong Kong.
