Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is the busiest airport in Ireland and is located 10km north of Dublin city.

The first flight from Dublin took place in 1940, a year before the opening of the original airport terminal building. The design of the terminal was heavily influenced by luxury ocean liners of the 1930s and is a now a listed building.

Today, Dublin Airport is serviced by two terminals that, combined, are capable of handling 35 million passengers. The current Terminal 1 was opened in 1972 and has since undergone regular expansion, increasing its yearly passenger handling capacity by 10 million since its original opening. Terminal 2 was opened in 2010 and services the majority of the airport's long haul carriers.

Both terminals have banking and postal facilities as well as internet kiosks and a range of shops, restaurants and other amenities. Terminal 2 also contains one of only two US preclearance facilities in Europe, allowing US bound passengers to undertake immigration screening prior to departure.
