Almaty Airport

Almaty International Airport is located just 11 miles from the city of Almaty - the largest and most commercially important city in Kazakhstan.

Almaty is widely considered to be the country's largest and most important international airport, handling an estimated 50% of passenger traffic and 68% of cargo traffic to Kazakhstan.

Almaty was granted 'International Airport' status in 1998 and went on to construct the longest runway in central Asia just ten years later; a runway which now helps the airport to welcome more than three and a half million passengers per year.

Plans are in place to build a new passenger terminal at Almaty International Airport with a capacity to serve as many as 2,500 international passengers per hour. It is thought that the programme of expansion will also see the addition of convenient facilities including a conference hall and business centre, shopping mall and cinema complex as well as hotel accommodation.
