Tips on recognizing Phishing Scams and Online Fraud

New scams seem to appear every day. You can learn to recognize a scam by familiarizing yourself with some of the telltale signs.

Scams can contain the following:

• Alarmist messages and threats of account closures.
• Promises of money for little or no effort.
• Deals that sound too good to be true.
• Requests to donate to a charitable organization after a disaster that has been in the news.
• Grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.

Phishing emails

They are intended to steal your personal information or Loyalty Programme membership information.

The email will typically prompt you for personal data or direct you to a website to log into your account.

• Emails might appear to come from Etihad Airways or Etihad Guest, the email address might appear to be from or address. It might appear to be from someone you know.

• An official-looking Etihad Airways or Etihad Guest logo and other information taken directly from or Convincing details about your personal information that the fraudster found from the internet might be included in the phishing emails.

• They might include links to counterfeit websites where you are asked to provide your account login details. The spoofed website might look similar or even identical to the official website of Etihad Airways or Etihad Guest.

• Always ask for the name of the person you are speaking to and who they represent.
• You will NEVER be asked for your online password via an agent at the Etihad Guest Service Centre.

Email fraud

Protect Your Etihad Guest account from Online Fraud

• Do not open suspicious or unsolicited emails (spam).
• Do not click on any links in a spam email or open any files attached to them.
• Be alert of any email that asks for you to update your Etihad Guest account or personal information such as passwords/PINs/userid, etc.
• Ensure that your browser has opened a genuine or website.

Etihad Airways will NEVER contact you through phone calls or emails asking for your Etihad Guest account personal information such as passwords/PINs/userid, etc.
