Munich is the third largest city of Germany. Culture and architecture are key features of Munich. The Oktoberfest Beer festival is held once a year and is well renowned throughout the world. Munich is within easy driving distance to the Alps and boasts some of the most beautiful views in Europe. The city is considered to be a city of arts and science, stretching back from the early 19th century. The city has housed many influential people over the years including musicians, artists, architects and many famous writers.

Marienplatz
Munich's Marienplatz, originally named Schrannen, is also known as St. Mary's Square and is one of the most famous landmarks in Germany. Thought of as the heart of Munich by many, the Marienplatz hosts a number of annual events throughout the year such as the Christmas Market, the Fasching Celebrations and the Founding Festival. Marienplatz used to also host tournaments and the city's market back in the middle ages.

Nymphenburg Palace
Work on the construction of the Nymphenburg Palace begun in 1664, it was to be a summer house for Max Emanuel, who was born in 1662. His father, Bavarian Elector Ferdinand Maria, contracted Italian architect Agostino Barell to design the building. The most famous exhibit in the palace is a painting commissioned by King Ludwig, to the artist Joseph Stieler, called the 'Gallery of Beauties'.

Munich Airport

Munich Airport, also known as Munich Franz Josef Strauss Airport, is located 28km northeast of Munich, near the old city of Freising.  

The airport is located on the territory of three different municipalities: Oberding (location of the terminals; district of Erding), Hallbergmoos and Marzling (district of Freising). 

Munich Airport is the second busiest airport in Germany for passenger traffic. It handled 35 million people in 2008. It is the world’s 14th busiest airport for international passenger traffic and overall 27th busiest in the world. 

There are two passenger terminals at Munich Airport. Passengers on flights to Munich from Abu Dhabi arrive at Terminal 1C.
