As a testament to its economic clout, the Netherlands capital is ranked as a prominent ‘alpha city’ by the Globalization and World Cities (GaWC) Research Network, alongside the likes of Washington and Frankfurt.

In addition, Amsterdam has emerged as a leading tourism destination, attracting more than 4.5 million visitors from around the world each year.
