One of the fastest-growing aviation hubs in the world, Abu Dhabi International Airport (IATA Code: AUH) welcomed 7.05 million passengers in the first half of 2012, which represents an impressive increase of 22.8% in comparison to the same period in 2011.
To keep pace with increasing demand, a third terminal building was opened in 2009, which raised the airport’s passenger capacity to 12.5 million each year.
Serving as the home base of Etihad Airways, the lavish Terminal 3 includes an award-winning concierge style check-in, together with a diverse collection of restaurants and cafes, premium lounges, and a retail offering managed by DFS, the world’s biggest luxury travel retailer.
Looking ahead, Abu Dhabi International Airport’s capacity will be further increased to 17 million passengers by the time a new midfield terminal complex opens in 2017, further reinforcing the UAE capital as a world-class travel and tourism hub.
