Tiananmen Square
Tiananmen Square is situated at the very centre of Beijing and attracts thousands of tourists every day. Imperial offices, located in the Forbidden City, occupied the area that is now Tiananmen Square, connecting the Palace and Qianmen to the Temple of Heaven. Tiananmen means, in Chinese, The Gate of Heavenly Peace and is the oldest standing gate of the Imperial Palace, more commonly known as the Forbidden City and now provides an entrance to the City.

The Temple of Heaven
The Temple of Heaven was originally built in 1420 A.D. as an offer sacrifice in the Ming dynasty. The temple is separated internally by two enclosed walls, providing inner and outer parts. Some of the structures enclosed are the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvest, the Imperial Vault of Heaven, the Circular Mound Altar, Three Echo Stones and Echo Wall. Most of the structures are connected by the Sacred Way, more commonly known as the Vermilion Steps Bridge.

Beijing Airport

Beijing Capital International Airport, located around 32 kilometres northeast of central Beijing, is the main airport serving the Chinese capital.

The airport is the busiest in Asia and the second busiest in the world in terms of passenger traffic, with a capacity of approximately 90 million passengers per year.

Three terminals make up Beijing Capital International Airport, the newest of which was completed in 2008. The colossal terminal 3, built in time for the Beijing Olympic Games, is the second largest airport terminal in the world and the fifth biggest building on the planet.

A third runway was built alongside the expansion, as well as a high-speed rail link to Beijing city centre and the terminal boasts an impressive multi-million dollar luggage transfer system, allowing arriving passengers to retrieve their luggage within 4.5 minutes of an aeroplane being unloaded.

Beijing Capital International Airport contains a plethora of facilities and passenger comforts, including a “global kitchen”, featuring 72 food outlets and an indoor imperial-style garden.
