Located about 22km northeast of the city, Cairo Airport is the busiest airport in Egypt and second busiest airport in Africa. In 2009, it served nearly 15 million passengers and handled just under 143,000 aircraft movements.
The airport has three terminals, with the third (and largest) opened on April 27, 2009. Terminal 2 was closed in April 2010 for major renovation works to the building's structure and facilities.
Etihad Airways Diamond First Class and Pearl Business Class passengers can use the facilities in the EAS Lounge and Airport Authority Lounge in Cairo Airport.
