Geneva has the second highest population in Switzerland and is located where the Rhône River leaves Lake Geneva. A large amount of international organisations have their bases in Geneva, making the city a hub of diplomacy. The city is sometimes known as the "Peace Capital".

The population of Geneva is now over 180,000 and it is estimated that about 40% of the inhabitants are ex-patriots. As previously mentioned, Geneva house some of the world's major organisations, some of which are; the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Organization for Migration, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the World Economic Forum and the World Trade Organization.

Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art
The museum, or MAMCO as it is sometimes known, opened its doors in 1994 in a building that was previously used as a factory. There are various exhibitions and works dating back from the 1960's to present day. Placed around the museums are sculptures, photographs, paintings, videos and installations, donated by private and public collectors. Three times a year temporary exhibitions are available for viewing.

UNOG
Over 100,000 people a year visit The United Nations Office at Geneva, taking advantage of the organised guided tours. The tours last a little over one hour and are in 15 different languages. Highlights to see on the tour include Gifts presented by various countries to the United Nations Office, a film about the key objectives of the United Nations, the Council Chamber, Assembly Hall, the Salle des Pas Perdus and the Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room.

Geneva Airport

Geneva International Airport, commonly known as Cointrin Airport, is located 4km northwest of the city centre and has direct connections to motorways, bus lines and railways. 

Particularly popular at Geneva Airport is the onsite train station, which is situated next to the terminal and offers more than 140 daily services. 

Geneva Airport’s northern limit runs along the Swiss-French border and the airport can be accessed from both countries. 

Passengers on flights from Geneva will take off from the airport’s single concrete runway and one terminal. 

Etihad Diamond First and Pearl Business Class passengers can make use of the Horizon Lounge in the terminal building in order to relax before getting on their flights from Geneva.
