Introduction

As part of our ongoing commitment to offer a wider network to our guests and at greater convenience, we have teamed up with French National Railway (SNCF) and German national railway company (Deutsche Bahn) to provide guests with rail connectivity within France and Germany. In the pages below, find out how you can book a flight and train in one ticket.

Ways to book

When flying with us to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), you can opt for an onward connection on SNCF’s 2,000km high-speed Train à Grande Vitesse (TGV) rail routes to cities around the country (see list below).

This seamless air-rail connection can be made in one booking on our website, via our Contact Centres or through a travel agent.

Travelling by rail and then air

  1. On booking your Etihad Airways flight and TGV rail ticket together, you will receive one e-ticket by email.
  2. Print this e-ticket and present this to the TGV Air counter at the SNCF train station in the city you selected to travel from at least 15 minutes before the train’s departure (no seat reservation is necessary).
  3. On presentation of your e-ticket and a valid form of ID, you will be given TGV Air rail travel documents for your journey to Paris.
  4. On arrival at Paris-Charles de Gaulle TGV station, take the free light rail CDGVAL service to Terminal 2A to check in for your Etihad flight.
Note that the air segment of your trip is only valid if you have completed the rail segment.

Travelling by air and then rail

  1. Upon arrival at Terminal 2A at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, reclaim any bags you may have checked in on your flight before taking the free light rail CDGVAL service to the TGV rail station.
  2. Your rail travel documents will be given to you after you present your flight e-ticket and a valid form of ID.
  3. You may then take a TGV train to the destination you selected to travel to without needing prior seat reservation.
Note that the rail segment of your trip is only valid if you have completed the air segment.

When flying with us to Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), Munich International Airport (MUC), Dusseldorf International Airport (DUS) or Berlin-Tegel International Airport (TXL), you can book an onward connection on Deutsche Bahn rail network to any of the German train stations it serves.

In reverse, you can also travel on Deutsche Bahn routes from cities in Germany to Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf or Berlin for onward flights with Etihad.

This seamless air-rail connection can be made in one booking on our website, via our Contact Centres or through a travel agent.

Booking on Etihad.com

Go to Etihad.com and select the city you wish to fly from in the origin drop-down menu and select ‘Rail n Fly’ in the destination drop-down menu.

The same concept applies in reverse. Guests travelling from German cities served by Deutsche Bahn can select ‘Rail n Fly’ in the origin drop-down menu and the city of their choice in the destination drop-down menu.

Continue through the booking process as normal but be warned that the Deutsche Bahn train times displayed in the booking engine are fictitious. You will need to check with Deutsche Bahn directly for the right schedule. However, the Etihad flight times are correct, and you must be at the airport at least 2 hours before departure.

Note that air-rail tickets can only be printed up to 72 hours before each flight departure.

Travelling by rail and then air

  1. Once you have booked your Etihad Airways flight and Deutsche Bahn rail ticket together, you will receive one email containing your flight e-ticket reference number and your train confirmation number. Note that you will be issued different train confirmation numbers for each guest travelling and for outbound and return legs of the rail sector.
  2. Print your rail confirmation number(s) and take it to the Deutsche Bahn counter or self-service kiosk at the train station you wish to travel from at least 15 minutes before the train’s departure (no booking is necessary).
  3. On presentation of your e-ticket and a valid form of ID, you will be given Deutsche Bahn rail travel documents for your journey to Frankfurt.

Note that the air segment of your trip is only valid if you have completed the rail segment.

Travelling by air and then rail

  1. Upon arrival at Frankfurt International Airport, reclaim any bags you may have checked in on your flight before making your way to the Deutsche Bahn counter.
  2. Your rail travel documents will be given to you after you present your e-ticket with rail confirmation numbers and a valid form of ID.
  3. You may then take a Deutsche Bahn train to any of the stations in its network.

Note that the rail segment of your trip is only valid if you have completed the air segment.
