A new era in air travel was unveiled at Etihad Airways’ world-class Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi today, underscoring the airline’s commitment to innovation.
The new cabin
interiors for Etihad Airways’ Airbus A380 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet were
revealed to the world’s media in Abu Dhabi today, Sunday 4 May.
The Etihad Airways Innovation
Centre is home to a walk-through reconstruction of the new A380 and B787 aircraft
cabins, including real life mock-ups of The Residence by Etihad™ and the new First
Apartments and First Suites.
The walk-through also
features Business Class cabins on the A380 and B787, with the airline’s new Business
Studio, as well as Economy Class cabins with the Economy Smart Seat.
The full scale cabin
sections were fully-dressed for the unveiling to enable guests to touch and
feel the new cabin interiors, and absorb the atmosphere of all-encompassing hospitality
offered when flying with Etihad Airways.
Peter Baumgartner, Etihad
Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, said: “As the World’s Leading Airline*, we
are always at the forefront of innovation. The new state-of-the-art facility
creatively demonstrates our remarkable product and service, and embodies the
vision for the future of Etihad Airways and the Etihad Experience.
“After celebrating a
decade of innovation, we are now looking at the next decade – and the new Innovation
Centre provides us, our crew and partners, the right environment to come
together to create new opportunities for Etihad Airways and for Abu Dhabi.”
Airways Innovation Centre has been designed to enable people to discuss and
comprises two fully-equipped meeting, project management and research rooms
with high-tech audio-visual and IT equipment, as well as an auditorium intended
for lectures from global experts in design, service,
marketing, and guest experience.
The Innovation Centre
is a research centre of excellence, where fresh ideas are brought to life as
unique products and remarkable experiences.
Facilitating this, is a product concept room where early thinking can be
quickly roughed out from scratch.
The Innovation Centre
is also home to Etihad Airways’ Innovation Training Academy which comprises the
largest A380 and B787 cabin service and safety trainers in the world.
Measuring around 30
metres long and between six and four metres high, they are fully functioning
and were built under licence using data supplied by Airbus and Boeing.
The cabin trainers
are complemented by 10 classrooms in an open training environment. The Innovation
Training Academy is the evolution in learning required to prepare cabin crew
with the skills to deliver the highest level of safety and hospitality for guests.
Mr Baumgartner added:
“The Etihad Airways Innovation Centre and the Innovation Training Academy
further demonstrate our commitment to safety, innovation and individuality,
which are part of the DNA of Etihad Airways. We have developed a world-class
training environment like no other to ensure we continue to deliver on the
expectations of our guests.”
Visits to the Etihad
Airways Innovation Centre will be by appointment or invitation only.
