Government requirements concerning passenger data mean you must enter your name as it appears on your passport, or you may not be permitted to fly. If you’re unsure how to do this, follow the guidelines below.
Enter your family name in the last name field
Enter your given names (first and middle) in the first name field, followed by your title
Middle name is not mandatory
Applies if you have a hyphenated surname, an apostrophe in your surname or a double-barrelled surname
Enter your family name or surname in the last name field using a space instead of a hyphen or apostrophe
For example: Enter JAMES ROBERT BRYCE-BUCHANAN as BRYCE BUCHANAN/JAMES ROBERT MR.
If your surname is a single letter, enter it twice in the last name field
For example: Enter MISS MOAN Y as YY/MOAN MISS
If you’re travelling with someone with the same name, add a middle name wherever possible
For example: SINGH/JITENDER MR and SINGH/JITENDER PAL
If your family name or surname is not available, enter the given name in the last name field and enter the given name as FNU (First Name Unknown)
LNU must not be used
For example: HABEEB MOHAMMAD/FNU MR
If your first and middle names are not available, enter the family name or surname in the Last name field
Enter FNU (First Name Unknown) in the first name field
For example: JACK FRANCIS/FNU MR
If your full name is on one line on your passport, check the Machine Readable Zone at the bottom of your passport
Your surname will always follow the country code (EGY) without any spaces or separators
One < means space and < < comes after the surname
To accommodate name suffixes (such as Junior, Senior or III) add the suffix to your family name or surname in the last name
For example: Enter MR JOHN OLSEN JR. as OLSEN JR/JOHN MR
You can enter up to 59 characters in total across all name fields
Your last name must contain at least two letters, and your first name must contain one letter
If your name is longer or there is insufficient space, add as many names as possible from your first name and surname on your passport and omit the rest
For example:
Last name: AMARASINGHE ARACHCHIGE
First name: SAMINTHA NIRMANI PERERA
Enter: AMARSINGHE/SAMINTHA MR
If your name has a special character (for example, an umlaut ü, å, ö), check the Machine Readable Zone at the bottom of your passport and enter the name accordingly
Your surname will always follow the country code (EGY) without any spaces or separators
One < means space and < < comes after the surname
For example: LAAAAS – Surname where Å is entered as AA or GOERAN<TONY<BERTIL – First name where ö is entered as OE.
Some passports are issued with multiple names
In these cases, update just one of the surnames or first name from the Machine-Readable Zone at the bottom of your passport
For example: Update the name on the booking as one of the following: ZIOU / FLORINTA MS or ZIU / FLORIDA MS
