Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has won the prestigious title of “Best International Airline” at the 23rd annual Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards.
More than 400 guests attended the awards, voted for by the travel industry and the public, which were organised by Northern Ireland Travel News at the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa in Newcastle, Co. Down.
Beatrice Cosgrove, Etihad Airways’ General Manager Ireland said: “We are delighted to have been named Best International Airline at the Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards.
"Being recognised in this way, by the trade in Northern Ireland, is a fantastic achievement and one of which we are very proud."
“Northern Ireland is a key market for Etihad Airways, and this award caps a strong six months which has seen us increase our frequency from Dublin to double daily."
"We have also launched new services to Perth which joined our highly successful Australian flight network, and are set to begin flights to Phuket in Thailand later this month.”
Earlier this year Etihad Airways was named winner of the ‘Sustainability & Environment Award’ at Ireland’s inaugural Aviation Industry Awards 2014.
An expert panel of judges recognised the airline’s success in “significantly improving sustainability and environment performance in the sector” through a diverse range of CSR initiatives, run internally and in collaboration with external partners during the past 18 months.
