Enjoy a lighter way to travel in Economy Class with our new hand baggage only Deal Fare, available for travel between Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. 

We know you don’t always require checked baggage when flying with us, so we are introducing a new lower fare for those travelling with hand baggage only. 

Whether you’re travelling on a business trip, weekend getaway or a day trip and don’t need checked baggage, choose our hand baggage only Deal Fare.

We also offer a generous cabin baggage allowance of 7kg. This bag must fit into the overhead storage within the cabin or below the seat in front of you. If your cabin bag exceeds the set limits, you will be asked to check your baggage into the hold and excess baggage charges will apply.

Q: Why has Etihad launched a hand baggage only fare?

A: The initiative is in response to customer feedback that shows strong demand for a hand baggage only fare, especially from business and weekend leisure travellers.

Q: What routes is it valid on?

A: This fare is available for travel between Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt. It only applies on point-to-point travel and is not available to guests connecting through Abu Dhabi to worldwide destinations.

Q: What happens if my hand baggage exceeds weight or size restrictions?

A: Passengers travelling on a hand baggage only Deal Fare are entitled to a cabin baggage allowance of 7kg. The bag must adhere to the dimensions set out in our standard baggage policy to fit into the overhead storage within the cabin or below the seat. If a passenger cabin bag exceeds the set limits, they will be asked to check baggage into the hold and excess baggage charges will apply.

Q: What does “Deal Fare” mean?

A: Deal fare is our lowest fare, generally available during promotions. The Hand Baggage Only Deal Fare allows for one item of hand luggage, up to 7kg.

Q: After my booking, I realise I need more baggage, can I purchase excess baggage?

A: Yes – excess baggage can be purchased at etihad.com with a 20% discount up to 48 hours before departure.

Q: What happens if I booked my ticket on a Deal Fare on these routes before 2 September 2018?

A: Guests can travel as planned with the baggage allowance as per their ticket policy.

We offer a generous cabin baggage allowance of 7kg and you also may bring a small personal item onboard.

Economy Class:

  • 1 x cabin bag with a maximum weight of 7kg and maximum dimensions of (50cm x 40cm x 25cm)
  • 1 x personal item which must fit under the seat in front of you, with a maximum weight of 5kg. For example, a handbag, a laptop bag or Duty Free purchase.

If your bag exceeds the set limits, you will be asked to check your baggage into the hold and additional baggage charges may apply.
