Things to know before you fly

It is compulsory to wear a face mask whilst you travel. You must wear your face mask when you arrive at the airport and keep it on for the duration of your journey.

Remember to wash your hands thoroughly at regular intervals, and follow social distancing guidelines carefully at all times.

Travelling in the UAE

Updated 30 June 2020

Travel between Abu Dhabi and other UAE emirates is currently restricted by the Abu Dhabi Government. If you are travelling between emirates to reach the airport, you must prove that you have tested negative for COVID-19 within the past 48 hours before you’ll be permitted to enter Abu Dhabi. You must also present your booking confirmation or ticket if requested by officials.

Baggage

Due to government restrictions across our network, you will only be permitted to carry a personal item on board, such as a handbag, backpack or laptop bag. This can weigh up to 5kg. You can check in your remaining cabin baggage for free. This applies if you are flying in Economy, Business or First.

Remember to read our regulations before you travel.

Check-in

From 30 hours before your flight, you can check-in and choose your seat online or via our app. To help us follow social distancing guidelines as closely as possible, some of our seats are unavailable. If you can’t find the seat you would like, we’ll be happy to help you at the airport.

Check-in at the airport opens three hours before your scheduled flight time. Your boarding pass will be ready to collect when you arrive.

If your journey time to the airport coincides with curfew hours in the UAE, you will be required to present your booking confirmation or ticket if requested by officials.

Abu Dhabi Airport

We’ve introduced a number of new procedures at the airport to keep you protected, so please make sure you arrive with plenty of time. Temperature screening is in operation, and you’ll be asked to wait two metres from other guests at all queuing points.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our lounges in Abu Dhabi are closed. We will reopen them as soon as we can.

On board

On board, we’ll make sure you are seated with as much space as possible between every guest, and we’ll offer our food and drinks service in line with important COVID-19 guidelines.

Our fantastic crew will be on board, so if you need any assistance, they’re there to help. All of our crew will be following strict COVID-19 flying rules, and we kindly ask that you do everything you can to adhere to these.

Remember – it is compulsory to wear a face mask whilst you are at the airport, on board the aircraft and when you arrive at your destination.

Arriving at your destination
