COVID-19 test requirements
From 16 August, it will be mandatory to have a COVID-19 PCR test for all flights with Etihad Airways.
If you are travelling from another emirate to reach Abu Dhabi airport, you must present a negative COVID-19 test before you will be permitted to enter Abu Dhabi. The test must be valid within 48 hours. Taxis are in operation between Dubai and Abu Dhabi airport

Currently it is only mandatory to have a COVID-19 PCR test before you fly with Etihad Airways from any worldwide airport outside of Abu Dhabi, and travelling from Abu Dhabi to any European Union country, as well as Switzerland and the UK.
We’re operating special flights to Abu Dhabi from Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kochi and Mumbai. These flights will operate throughout August 2020.
If you are travelling from Pakistan, there are a number of travel regulations you need to be aware of. You must present a negative COVID-19 test result before you will be permitted to fly, and you must download the UAE Al Hosn app. Find out more
Special flights to Abu Dhabi throughout August
Regular service: from 1 September
If you’re travelling to Shanghai, China, you will be required to show a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, issued within 96 hours of your departure. The test must be carried out at a clinic which is approved by the Chinese Embassy in your departure country. If you do not have a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate, you will not be permitted to board.

You also need a COVID-19 PCR test if you are travelling from Abu Dhabi to any European Union country, as well as Switzerland and the UK.
Your test must be carried out at an approved medical facility in the UAE within 96 hours of your flight.
You must print your test results and keep them with you on your trip – you’ll need to present them for validation at the airport.
Children under 12 and people with mild and severe disabilities are exempt from COVID-19 PCR testing.

Visit Mediclinic.ae to book your test and you should receive your results within 24 hours of taking the test – you can even arrange to be tested at home. The service is available for all guests flying from Abu Dhabi, including guests travelling from another emirate to reach Abu Dhabi airport.

Visit Mediclinic.ae, email email@example.com or call 800 2022. We recommend you complete your test 48 hours before your trip. You can also visit any approved medical facility.
You can arrange to be tested at home or at any Mediclinic clinic. You’ll receive your results within 24 hours.
If you test negative for COVID-19, you’re ready to travel. If you test positive, you are not permitted to travel, and you should rearrange your flight. The Department of Health will be informed, and you’ll be required to follow strict quarantine guidelines.

It is compulsory to wear a face mask whilst you travel. You must wear your face mask when you arrive at the airport and keep it on for the duration of your journey.
Remember to wash your hands thoroughly at regular intervals, and follow social distancing guidelines carefully at all times.

Travel between Abu Dhabi and other UAE emirates is currently restricted by the Abu Dhabi Government. If you are travelling between emirates to reach the airport, you must prove that you have tested negative for COVID-19 within the past 48 hours before you’ll be permitted to enter Abu Dhabi. You must also present your booking confirmation or ticket if requested by officials.
Due to government restrictions across our network, you will only be permitted to carry a personal item on board, such as a handbag, backpack or laptop bag. This can weigh up to 5kg. You can check in your remaining cabin baggage for free. This applies if you are flying in Economy, Business or First.
Remember to read our regulations before you travel.
From 30 hours before your flight, you can check-in and choose your seat online or via our app. To help us follow social distancing guidelines as closely as possible, some of our seats are unavailable. If you can’t find the seat you would like, we’ll be happy to help you at the airport.
Check-in at the airport opens three hours before your scheduled flight time. Your boarding pass will be ready to collect when you arrive.
If your journey time to the airport coincides with curfew hours in the UAE, you will be required to present your booking confirmation or ticket if requested by officials.
We’ve introduced a number of new procedures at the airport to keep you protected, so please make sure you arrive with plenty of time. Temperature screening is in operation, and you’ll be asked to wait two metres from other guests at all queuing points.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, our lounges in Abu Dhabi are closed. We will reopen them as soon as we can.
On board, we’ll make sure you are seated with as much space as possible between every guest, and we’ll offer our food and drinks service in line with important COVID-19 guidelines.
Our fantastic crew will be on board, so if you need any assistance, they’re there to help. All of our crew will be following strict COVID-19 flying rules, and we kindly ask that you do everything you can to adhere to these.
