Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, visited children receiving care at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
Pilots and cabin crew, in full uniform, distributed Eid al-Fitr gifts to
children at the hospital’s paediatric ward. Gifts were purchased using money
donated by Etihad Airways’ employees at a Ramadan garage
sale held at the airline’s head office.
The
visit is part of the charitable and community initiatives carried out by Etihad
Airways Sports and Social Committee during the Holy month of Ramadan.
Khaled
Almehairbi, Etihad Airways Senior Vice President Government and Aero-political
Affairs and the Sports and Social Committee Chairman, said: “Children at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City are very close to our hearts
and we are delighted to offer them gifts just before Eid al-Fitr.”
During the holy month, the Sports and
Social Committee implemented several sports and community events which raised
more than AED 280,000 to support charitable causes both in the United Arab
Emirates and worldwide.
All events were organised under the theme of ‘Share your blessings
this Ramadan’ and comprised an Iftar for 10,000 workers at the Saadiyat
Accommodation Village, a Ramadan Charity Football Tournament, and tennis and table tennis
open days.
