Etihad Airways Engineering is strategically located adjacent to Abu Dhabi International Airport. Aircraft hangars at the facility cover approximately 42,000 sqms including 10,000 sqm of aircraft painting facilities and a custom-designed hangar that can accommodate up to three A380 aircraft simultaneously.

Around 140,000 sqm of aircraft parking area is also available for light checks and non-scheduled maintenance work.

Base maintenance

Etihad Airways Engineering provides a broad range of base maintenance services, helping customers from around the world maintain and increase their fleet reliability.

From routine maintenance and heavy checks to the most complex repairs, cabin modifications and connectivity solutions, Etihad Airways Engineering delivers cost-effective results demanded by its customers.

The company has full engineering, non-destructive testing (NDT) and production engineering capability. The dedicated, state-of-the-art composites repair workshop accommodates aero structure repairs, including carbon-fibre, fibre-glass and honeycomb structures. Full stripping and painting of aircraft is carried out in dedicated paint hangars, which can accommodate both narrow and wide body aircraft.

Design, Engineering and Innovation

The Design, Engineering and Innovation (DE&I) team is the primary driver of design engineering solutions and technical innovation for Etihad Airways, its equity partners and third party customers and continues to focus on newer platforms projects (A380 and B787).


The DE&I team has acquired vast experience in successfully delivering major modifications, complex retrofit programmes involving multiple vendors and BFE coordination and provides 24/7 technical support to the line, light and heavy maintenance teams.

The Design team at Etihad Airways Engineering has major and minor EASA and GCAA approvals for designing changes to cabin interiors and provides custom solutions for airline operational requirements, as well as designing repairs covering the following fields of expertise:

The Engineering team covers the following activities:

  • Conceptual design, development and approval of major cabin changes, including manufacture of parts and kits
  • Creation of technical documentation for modification and repair

  • Stress analysis, FEM calculations (NASTRAN/PATRAN) and other special analyses
  • Consulting services – methodologies for design activities and MRO services
  • Management of engineering projects
  • Technological services and Innovation consulting with tangible benefits
  • Design, approve and manufacture large scale decals for external fuselage application (branding)
  • Manufacture of all internal and external aircraft placards and decals


Component Services

Etihad Airways Engineering is steadily and consistently increasing its component capabilities on new platforms such as the A380 and B787, in close collaboration with key OEMs and reputed vendors from all over the world.


The company offers extensive test, repair and overhaul for most modern commercial aircraft components including fast track items such as Wheels, Brakes, Safety Equipment, Bottles and Batteries, through dedicated component shops spread over 6,000 sqm and servicing more than 40,000 components annually.


The rotable component repair and overhaul capability of Etihad Airways Engineering is spread across nine specialty shops:

Etihad Airways Engineering also has surplus consumable and rotable aircraft spare parts to support Boeing and Airbus aircraft.

These spares are offered at competitive market rates and all the logistics required for moving the parts from the warehouse to the customer can be organised efficiently and timely by the in-house supply and logistics team.

Line Maintenance

The network of Etihad Airways Technical and its Equity Partners is a leading line maintenance provider with approvals from UAE GCAA, EASA, CASA, QCAA, DGCA and many more National Aviation Authorities offering 24/7 services to customers from our Main base Abu Dhabi and more than 50 strategic locations around the world.


Our services and line maintenances solutions offered to customers include:

  • Certification of Release to Service
  • Aircraft push backs
  • Minor line maintenance checks up to and including A checks
  • Minor and major component replacement and servicing (wheel change, MLG seal replacement, etc.)
  • Engines, APU servicing and replacements (boroscope, vibration survey, etc.)

  • Aircraft weighing (in Abu Dhabi)
  • Minor composite and structural assessments and repairs (fuselage dents, cargo hold damage etc.)

    Etihad Airways Technical Training based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, is a UAE GCAA CAR 147 and EASA Part 147 approved maintenance training organisation. The centre of excellence provides approved training for most modern commercial aircraft from Airbus A320, A330, A340 and A380 to Boeing B777, and B787, with various engine types.


    Etihad Airways has invested significantly in the latest industry leading training solutions on new aircraft training platforms. B787 training is carried out on Boeing’s state-of-the-art Desk Top Simulator (DTS) and A380 training is imparted using the Airbus A380 Competency Trainer (ACT) system.

    Etihad Airways Technical Training also offers specialised training programs from Borescope Training, Part 145, Fuel Tank safety, EWIS, human factors to ETOPS courses. All programmes can be adapted to customer requirements.

    The training facility can also provide consultation services in establishing training programmes to meet the requirements of the customer.
