What is the baggage allowance for tickets booked via Etihad Airways when one of the flights within the booking is operated by a codeshare partner?

For such bookings, the baggage allowance of the airline that operates the longest flight within either your outbound or inbound journey will apply. For example, a multi-destination journey from Abu Dhabi to Bali (with transit in Jakarta) and return from Jakarta to Muscat (with transit in Abu Dhabi), the following baggage allowance is applicable:

Outbound: Abu Dhabi to Jakarta (operated by Etihad Airways), Jakarta to Bali (operated by codeshare partner). The longest flight time is Abu Dhabi to Jakarta, so Etihad Airways’ baggage allowance is applicable.

Inbound: Jakarta to Abu Dhabi (operated by codeshare partner), Abu Dhabi to Muscat (operated by Etihad Airways). The longest flight time is Jakarta to Abu Dhabi, so the codeshare partner’s baggage allowance is applicable.

Can I travel with my pet?

Etihad Airways accepts the carriage of falcons and guide dogs to lead the blind in the cargo hold compartment provided that all the necessary health documents and important licenses have been obtained.

Any other animals must travel as cargo and are not permitted within the aircraft cabin or checked baggage.

How do I report lost or damaged baggage?

In the unfortunate event of a baggage delay when flying with Etihad Airways, you can make a Baggage Claim. If you discover that your baggage and/or its contents are damaged after leaving the airport, please complete and submit a Baggage Claim Form within 7 days of arrival. We will assess the claim and notify you accordingly.

How do I report lost or damaged baggage?

Yes if you have booked one ticket with Etihad Airways and you do not leave the airport at the location of your transit stop. If you have booked two flights with different airlines, or you want to have a stopover in the middle of your journey, you will have to collect your baggage where you stop. In addition, for travel in the US, you may be required to collect your baggage at the mid-point of your journey. How much are the excess baggage charges?

Excess baggage charges vary depending on your origin and destination. Please refer to the bottom of our baggage page for information on all Etihad flights except those traveling to and from the US or Canada.

Our global contact centres and retail offices charge a global service fee for new bookings, ticket changes and refund administration.

The following price ranges are applicable for Etihad Airways global service fees:

USD 20 – USD 400       Change fee
USD 10 – USD 400       Refund fee
USD 10 – USD 200       No-show fee

Effective 1st June 2012, any reward booked via the Etihad Guest Service Centre will incur a global service fee of USD 20 or 2000 Etihad Guest Miles. This fee is only applicable for services which can be booked online by Etihad Guest Base Members and Etihad Guest Silver Members.

If you are travelling to or from Abu Dhabi in Pearl Business Class, or have a stopover in Abu Dhabi, we offer Etihad Chauffeur transfers on all points of your journey in the United Arab Emirates*.If you are not beginning or ending your journey with us in Abu Dhabi, and are not stopping over, you will continue to enjoy access to Etihad Chauffeur as per our existing policy. If you are an Etihad Guest Gold Elite, Gold or Silver member, you will continue to enjoy a personal chauffeur throughout your Pearl Business Class journey when traveling across our network**. What is the check in time for my flight?

Fly with Etihad and enjoy a hassle-free journey. Provided your flight is operated by Etihad Airways (not a codeshare partner), you can check in online from 24 hours to 2 hours before departure.

At the airport, check in opens at least 3 hours prior to departure. For flights departing from Abu Dhabi, check in opens 4 hours prior to departure. Check in closes 60 minutes prior to departure. Please ensure you are at the boarding gates at least 45 minutes before departure.

Can I change my ticket?

Using our online Manage my booking function, you can make changes to your travel dates, update contact details, pay in advance for excess baggage, or upgrade your seats with your Etihad Guest Miles. All other changes must be made by calling our contact centre on +971 2 599 0000 or your nearest Etihad office. Global Service Fee is applicable for any changes being made by the Etihad contact centre or retail offices. Changes for multiple destinations / stopovers bookings cannot be done through Manage My Booking.

Fare rules from the most restricted fare group will apply for any changes in the entire and/or partially used booking. Any fees collected for booking changes are non-refundable. For further details, please review the fare rules available on the right navigation bar.

Do you offer anything for children on-board?

How do I book unaccompanied minors?

Children above the age of 5 and below the age of 12 and travelling alone are treated as Unaccompanied Minors (UM’s). UMs are charged at the adult rate and can only be booked on Etihad-operated flights.

To book, please contact your nearest Etihad office or call our contact centre on +97125990000 to receive and submit the required UM documentation at least a week before the date of departure. UMs cannot be accepted onto a flight without this documentation and they must be seen off and met on arrival by their parents/guardians.

How do I book unaccompanied minors?

Can children aged 12-16 travel as unaccompanied minors?

Young adults from the age of 12 and below the age of 16 travelling alone without parents/guardians are entitled to the UM service if specifically requested by the parent or guardian. A maximum transit time of 4 hours is allowed.

After check-in, your children are our responsibility. We guide them through passport control and security checks right up to the aircraft and then ensure they enjoy a pleasant flight.

Upon landing, they are introduced to one of our ground hosts, who escorts them to the arrivals hall to be met by you.

Younger guests

When booking online, at what point is my infant considered a child, or child considered an adult?

Infants (0-2 years old) and children (2-11 years old) are deemed to be so at the time of travel and not at the time of booking. A child traveling on his or her second birthday is considered a child and not an infant, and would need to have been ticketed as such.

A child traveling on his or her 11th birthday is considered an adult and would need to have been ticketed as such.

Can I get visa clearance for the USA from Abu Dhabi?

If you are travelling to New York, Chicago or Washington D.C, getting US preclearance is easy. Simply visit Abu Dhabi International Airport’s United States Preclearance facility located at Terminal 3 where you can arrange your US Customs and Border Protection formalities before boarding your flight in Abu Dhabi. Future US destinations will also benefit from the facility in the near future.

Our prices are automatically displayed based on the origin you are flying from. For example, if you are in the USA, booking a flight from Sydney to New York, the price displayed, and the price you need to pay, will be in Australian Dollars.
