Members of Etihad Airways’ Etihad Guest and South African Airways’ (SAA) Voyager loyalty programs can earn double miles when they fly with the partner airline before 30 June 2014, in a promotion that marks the start of a partnership between the two airlines’ frequent flyer programs.
This builds on the
signing of a Commercial Co-operation Agreement in September 2013 enabling the
two airlines to introduce a comprehensive range of codeshare and interline air
services, as well as explore a wide range of synergy and efficiency
opportunities.
The agreement also provides
for greater cooperation between the airlines’ frequent flyer programs, Etihad
Guest and Voyager, enabling passengers to earn and redeem miles when flying
with the partner airline. In both cases, the number of miles earned will depend
upon the class of travel flown.
Barry
Green, Managing Director, Etihad Guest, said: “We are delighted to build upon our
successful partnership with South African Airways in this loyalty program
collaboration. This will appeal to both airlines’ loyal customers who now have the
opportunity to earn and redeem miles across both Etihad Airways and SAA networks.”
Suretha
Cruse, Head of SAA Voyager, said: “South African Airways entered into a
strategic codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways, and as an additional value
proposition, we are pleased to complement the partnership further by providing
our South African Airways’ Voyager members with the opportunity to earn and
redeem Voyager Miles on Etihad Airways’ global network.”
To redeem miles for
reward flights on South African Airways, Etihad Guest members must contact the
Etihad Guest Service Centre a minimum of 14 days prior to the intended date of
travel.
