Moien, Luxembourg: Etihad Airways touches down in the Grand Duchy
  • Four flights a week on the Etihad A321LR, with two First Suites, 14 seats in Business and 144 in Economy
  • The only nonstop service between Luxembourg and the UAE, with onward travel to Asia, Australia and the Indian subcontinent

Abu Dhabi, UAE – Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, today launched the only nonstop service between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi, becoming the first airline from the Middle East to fly to Luxembourg. The route operates four times a week on the Etihad A321LR, with strong demand since bookings opened in January 2026.

Etihad’s inaugural flight, EY51 from Abu Dhabi, was welcomed at Luxembourg Airport with a water cannon salute.

Antonoaldo Neves, Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, said: “2026 has been a year of strong network growth for Etihad, and Luxembourg is a special addition. We are proud to serve the Grand Duchy with our full three-cabin experience from the very first flight, and we look forward to welcoming guests from Luxembourg and the wider region on board, whether they are travelling to Abu Dhabi or onward across our network.”

Guests flying between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi on the Etihad A321LR can choose from two First Suites, 14 seats in Business and 144 in Economy. The First Suites and Business seats turn into fully flat beds with direct aisle access, and Economy has 4K touchscreens with hundreds of hours of films, television and music. High-speed Wi-Fi is available in all cabins.

For travellers from Luxembourg and neighbouring Belgium, France and Germany, the new Etihad service puts Abu Dhabi within direct reach. The UAE capital is home to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the museums of the Saadiyat Cultural District, including Louvre Abu Dhabi and the new Zayed National Museum. Beyond culture, Saadiyat Beach offers long stretches of white sand along the Arabian Gulf, and Yas Island brings together Ferrari World, Yas Waterworld, Warner Bros. World and SeaWorld. Through the Abu Dhabi Stopover programme, eligible Etihad guests can add up to two complimentary hotel nights to their journey. From Zayed International Airport, guests travelling from Luxembourg can continue with Etihad across Asia, Australia and the Indian subcontinent, to destinations including Phuket, Bangkok, Hanoi, Seoul, Tokyo, Sydney and Colombo.

Travelling the other way, Luxembourg offers a great deal within a short distance. Minutes from Luxembourg Airport, Luxembourg City spreads across its UNESCO-listed old quarters and fortifications, with the Bock casemates cut into the rock and the Grund district on the Alzette river below. The Kirchberg plateau is home to European institutions and the Philharmonie. Less than an hour away are the vineyards of the Moselle and the sandstone trails of the Müllerthal.

Alexander Flassak, CEO of lux-Airport, said: “We are delighted to welcome Etihad Airways as the first airline from the Middle East to serve Luxembourg Airport. Our passengers come from across the Grand Duchy and the Greater region, from Belgium, France and Germany, and this new service gives them a nonstop route to Abu Dhabi, with easy onward travel to Asia and beyond.”

In 2026, Etihad Airways is opening new routes across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and North America. Several, including Luxembourg, are operated on the Airbus A321LR, which brings Etihad’s full three-cabin experience, including First Suites, to more cities across Europe and Asia. Etihad’s network spans over 110 destinations, served by a modern, fuel-efficient operating fleet of 130 aircraft.
