We are dedicated to providing a positive travel experience for our guests requiring special assistance. If you need wheelchair assistance, please let us know at the time of booking to ensure we can assist you in the best way possible.

Some wheelchair categories have eligibility requirements. Please make sure you meet the eligibility criteria prior to booking your flight.

Guest is immobile.

Please complete your booking through our Global Contact Centre and local offices at least 72 hours before your date of travel to ensure we are aware of and can adequately meet your requirements. Should you fail to advise us at least 72 hours in advance, your travel may be refused.

Independent travel criteria
A guest may travel unaccompanied if you meet the following criteria.

In the unlikely event of an emergency, you should be able to:

  • Communicate in some way that you have understood the safety and emergency instructions of our cabin crew.
  • Physically assist in your own evacuation.

    If you do not meet the above criteria you must travel with a safety assistant.

During the course of your flight, you should be able to:

  • Self-administer medication, if required.
  • Eat and drink without assistance*
  • Take care of your personal needs in the lavatory*

    If you do not meet the above criteria it is strongly recommended that you travel with a personal care attendant.

    *Please note, our cabin crew are able to assist with opening food and beverage packaging but are not able to assist with feeding. They can also assist with aiding guests to and from the lavatory but are not able to assist with lavatory usage.

Ways to request for a wheelchair

Online

Online transaction When making a new booking online through etihad.com, select your flight/s, enter your passenger details and add your wheelchair request.

Manage my Booking

After booking your flight online or with the Contact Centre, go to Manage my Booking and modify the Passenger Details page.

Travel agent

When booking through a travel agent, directly request your wheelchair from your travel agent.

If you have any queries or require further information regarding wheelchair assistance please contact us via our Contact centers and offices.

Please note, if you are requesting WCHC category wheelchair assistance please complete your booking through our Global Contact Centre at least 72 hours before your date of travel to ensure we are aware of and can adequately meet your requirements. Should you fail to provide the required notice, we may be unable to accept you for travel.

Wheelchairs with Partner Airlines
If your flight or a segment of your flight is operated by one of our Partner Airlines, please contact the airline directly for your wheelchair requests.
